A conflict
A conflict
To the editor: An investigation is underway to determine whether the chair of a county energy task force violated the county conflict policy when he helped write and advocated for a grant that would pay him. Perhaps the chair, who is in the energy business, should not lead a county body in the same line of work. 05/29/2024 05:59 PM
Pattern of behavior
Pattern of behavior
To the editor: Having attended the May 13 Leland Township board meeting, I was disappointed to read the Enterprise’s reporting on the DNR dock removal in Leland. Per the story, a DNR proposal to swap park land, detailed in a letter addressed to Supervisor Och, “was not discussed by the Township Board.” The reason, unreported, is the board didn’t know the offer existed. 05/29/2024 05:59 PM
Food waste
Food waste
To the editor: My last letter was about waste as the archvillain causing our environmental symptoms: extreme/temperatures, hurricanes, food shortages, tornado and health risks etc. We are facing global energy transition. 05/29/2024 05:59 PM
Truth matters
Truth matters
To the editor: Barbara McQuade in her new book, “Attack From Within: How Disinformation Is Sabotaging America” defines disinformation as the “deliberate use of lies to manipulate people, whether to extract profit or to advance a political agenda.” A recent letter to the Enterprise about a County “cultural survey” reinforces the relevance of McQuade’s quote. The “cultural survey” was not “largely the initiative” of Commissioner Ross. 05/29/2024 05:59 PM
Special birthday
Special birthday
To the editor: Thank you, everyone for all of the cards you sent me for my 95th birthday. They made my birthday extra special. 05/29/2024 05:59 PM
Service … priceless
Service … priceless
To the editor: Reflecting on some of the recent letters expressing opinions on our sheriffs’ recent meeting with President Trump, it is my sincere hope that despite any political differences, as a community we can all express our appreciation for the dedication to public safety and well being that our sheriff and his staff have demonstrated. In a time when cynicism and divisiveness pervade our politics and press, it is my hope that we can put any differences aside and recognize the public service Sheriff Borkovich and his staff provide us on a daily basis. 05/29/2024 05:59 PM
Thank you
Thank you
To the editor: We wish to express our gratitude on behalf of our entire family at the passing of our brother, uncle, neighbor and friend. Your kind expressions of sympathy, words of comfort, mass cards, Spiritual bouquets, flowers and the large spray of flowers were kindly appreciated. 05/22/2024 04:45 PM
Thank you
Thank you
To the editor: The family of Elinor Swenson would like to thank many people during her illness and passing. Thank you to Munson Hospital, Doctors and Nurses, Martinson Funeral Home, First Lutheran Church Ladies Aide Society and relatives and friends who sent memorials, flowers, cards and food. 05/22/2024 04:45 PM
What we have…need
What we have…need
To the editor: Following the local news & other sources, I’ve come to a conclusion; we’re in BIG trouble in our county government. Some of our elected officials aren’t performing their positions as stated. 05/22/2024 04:45 PM
Church and state
Church and state
To the editor: It was written in a recent paper that we need to keep religion out of the White House citing Thomas Jefferson’s words “separation of church and state” as justification. But a history lesson is needed. 05/22/2024 04:45 PM
Survey divisive
Survey divisive
To the editor: We should continue to be concerned about the so called “cultural survey” that was conducted at the end of 2023 by John Scholten, and then reported upon him in early 2024. The “survey” has raised more questions than provided answers, but perhaps that was its intent. 05/15/2024 05:44 PM
Support the children
Support the children
To the editor: The growth & strength of the Suttons Bay Public School’s Music & Art Programs this year is nothing short of AMAZING! Hip, hip, hooray to the passionate teachers that have led the way… Dante Billeci, Elizabeth Richards, & Mary Hall. You have ignited in the children more than just a desire to learn but a sense of community & belonging. 05/15/2024 05:44 PM
