To the editor: I have been closely following the township meetings and the neighbor’s comments about Palmer Woods Forest Reserve’s new off-road parking area. I am a resident on Wheeler Road where I own three parcels of land. 12/06/2023 05:33 PM

To the editor: Is the Palmer Woods Expansion Area an appropriate property tor mountain biking? The conservancy rigorously defends mountain biking, but many, local residents disagree. The Cleveland Township Board ignores their concerns regarding a planned . 12/06/2023 05:33 PM

Corporate greed
To the editor: Americans want financial security for themselves and their loved ones. But the pandemic exposed weaknesses in our supply chains, driving up prices that remain high, pinching our family budgets. 12/06/2023 05:33 PM
Washington’s words
Washington’s words
To the editor: Not long after Washington was elected as our first president, the Hebrew Congregation in Newport, Rhode Island, sent him a letter of congratulations. In that letter, the congregation wrote of their hope that the new nation would tolerate religious minorities, like Jews. 12/06/2023 05:33 PM

Poll has Trump up in Michigan
If you want to be president for four more years and your victory may hinge on your opponent being in the slammer, you’d have to say things are pretty shaky. That’s the harsh reality the Joe Biden for President campaign is staring in the face these days based on the latest Michigan swing state polling data from EPIC-MRA. 12/06/2023 05:33 PM

‘Aggressive’ Conservancy
To the editor: As long time neighbors of the Leelanau Conservancy’s expanding Palmer Woods mountain bike recreation area, we have felt the impacts of increasing high-speed traffic through our rural neighborhood. To the editor: One of the encouraging signs in local politics is the progress made by the bipartisan Leelanau County Commission over the past year and a half. We finally have a septic inspection ordinance (like most counties in Michigan), and a Commission seriously interested in solving our problems: affordable housing, attracting and supporting young families, protecting our fragile environment, and transparency and cooperation in government. 12/06/2023 05:33 PM

Dysfunctional group
To the editor: I read with GREAT interest the headline article “Board OK’s employee survey” in the November 16 edition of the Leelanau Enterprise. I have been a resident of Suttons Bay for over ten years and am concerned at the number of examples where conduct among the Leelanau County Board of Commissioners has demonstrated acrimony and or contempt. 12/06/2023 05:33 PM

The Leelanau County Road Commission approved its 2024 budget Tuesday and it didn’t include funds to reconstruct a Leland Township road.
