‘Wickedness must end’
To the editor: A Center for Medical Progress public record request recently revealed that Planned Parenthood supplies aborted body parts to the University of California at San Diego in exchange for ownership of patents and other intellectual property resulting from their use. Last month The Daily Mail reported on a new nurse’s discovery of an aborted baby hopelessly fighting for life: “There lay a tiny baby boy, blinking, covered in mucus, blood and amniotic fluid, gasping for breath, his little arms and legs twitching.” How much more of abortion’s wickedness are we going to tolerate? Peggy Zemanek Cedar.

‘Vacation day?’
To the editor: I note that Leelanau County’s Sheriff must have taken a vacation day to attend Trump’s liefest in Grand Rapids on Tuesday. Someone should check to be sure he didn’t use a County vehicle to get there and that he DID take a vacation day for his time away from his duties.

‘Poor judgment’
To the editor: As an individual, Sheriff Mike Borkovich is welcome to privately support the candidate of his choice. What is unwelcome is that he chose to be photographed in the Leelanau County Sheriff’s uniform publicly showing support for candidate Trump.

‘Dismayed’
To the editor: We were dismayed to see sheriff Mike Borkovich standing next to former President Trump at the rally in Grand Rapids. Leelanau County supported President Joe Biden in the last election.

‘Constitutional Sheriff’
To the editor: Leelanau County deserves a better Sheriff. Someone who is focused on law enforcement, not political grandstanding.

‘Never again’
To the editor: I reject the COVID amnesty that some have suggested. Instead, we must never forget the forced mRNA (including children with virtually no risk), job terminations, and neighbor shaming where hostility were variously foisted on citizens who would not accept a largely untested vaccine, or who otherwise had religious objections.

‘Borkovich dedicated’
To the editor: My father is a retired Police officer who often served numerous political officials whether he agreed with them or not. His duty, like Sheriff Borkovich, was always to the people he represented and not to one political party.

Courage, not bluster
To the editor: An unexpected blessing of the January 6th hearings is that it gave young people two shining examples of political courage, Congresswoman Liz Cheney who co-chaired the Committee and White House Assistant Cassidy Hutchinson (age 27) who testified before it. Both Republicans, they were fully aware of what they could expect from the fury of Trump Republicans, including the onslaught of hate mail and death threats that they were about to receive.

Time to rise
To the editor: “To expect bad men not to do wrong is madness.” Roman Emperor and Stoic philosopher Marcus Aurelius’ words are as timely today as they were in the second century. They echo Maya Angelou’s famous quote, “When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.” It’s time to believe.

Kind words for Kalber
To the editor: We wish to honor Tom Kalber, the heart of Northport and Suttons Bay Tai Chi. For years, he volunteered countless hours to teach and coach Tai Chi, promoting its health benefits, a gateway to deeper levels of awareness, and origin in the martial arts.

‘Sari Sisterhood’ alliance formed during trip
I know a lot of people. But have very few “girlfriends.” You know, the kind you’d call if you really need help or offer assistance if needed.

Dictator?
To the editor: Webster says a dictator is a ruler having absolute authority, power, and supreme jurisdiction over the government of a state; especially, one who is considered tyrannical or oppressive. The worst and most famous dictators in history are: Hitler, Mussolini, Ferdinand, Marco, Joseph Stalin, Francisco Franco, Lenin, Mao, Kim and Vladimir Putin.
