Support for Conley
To the editor: Leelanau Township expects its leaders to focus on the economic and social good of our families, farmers and businesses. We expect them to listen carefully, conduct business in an open and constructive manner, and tell us the complete truth.

Support Ross
To the editor: I met Kama Ross almost 10 years ago. Over the last decade, I’ve spent time with her as a friend (she’s there for you), forester, volunteer, public servant, and advocate for peaceful, thoughtful democratic engagement.

Campbell endorsed
To the editor: I’m writing to endorse Alan Campbell as a candidate for County Commissioner. I feel Al’s knowledge of state and local affairs will make him an asset to our commission.

Heaven’s gain
To the Family of John Popa: My heart goes out to the Popa family with the sudden loss of John. Alan Campbell’s article eloquently described how John touched and molded organizations in Leelanau County for the benefit of all its citizens.

Not fiscally responsible
To the editor: The old saying “Actions speak louder than words” perfectly describes Lois Bahle. Her recent Enterprise ad claims she is “fiscally responsible” and supports “housing sustainability collaboration.” During her short commissioner term in 2022, she voted to raise property taxes.

‘Fear behind labeling’
To the editor: As a grade-schooler in 1958, during the Cold War, after giving a report on my family’s story of emigrating from Russia, I was accosted by an older classmate at recess. Finger in my face, he demanded, “Are you a pinko-commie?” I didn’t know what that was, but I knew it wasn’t a good thing.

Pave paradise?
To the editor: I oppose SBDNL/TART’s plan to destroy the existing environment (cut 7,000+ trees; build boardwalks through wetlands; and cut into protected sand dunes then build 25’ +/- high retaining walls to hold back the dunes) at the outrageous price tag of $4 million per mile. There are other options that SBDNL/TART could consider before they destroy the existing environment.

Attending meetings…
To the editor: Should attending meetings be a criteria for qualifying candidates, I’ve attended (BOC) and Committee meetings for 13 years, Bingham Township Planning meetings for 12 years and for the last 5 years Northwest Regional Airport Authority (NRAA) and Cherry Capital Airport committee meetings representing Leelanau County. As Chairman of the NRAA finance committee I am helping to oversee Cherry Capital Airport’s planned $110 million expansion project.

Character counts
To the editor: In this Presidential Election, more than ever, character counts. Let’s not choose a candidate that has an extensive list of character flaws, rude behavior and current legal battles would fill pages.

Free energy
To the editor: Twenty five years ago I bought a used sailboat. It came with a solar panel that powered a fan which removed stale air from the cabin and prevented mildew and foul smells.

Ross, hard working
To the editor: I am so glad that Kama Ross is my County Commissioner and has agreed to run again. She is one of the hardest working people I know representing us on the Solid Waste Council, the Parks and Recreation Commission and the Dam Authority.

Vote for Bunek
To the editor: Will Bunek, a long standing resident of Leelanau County. He understands and appreciates our resources and the need to preserve them.
