The Leland Chamber of Commerce is seeking a place to call home for the annual Wine and Food Festival.
Mark Morton, chamber president, approached the Leland Township Board Monday to talk about the 38th annual festival, scheduled this year for June 8.
Historically, the event has been hosted in the parking lot of the Leland Harbor. However, the venue was changed in 2022 and 2023 to the Leland Lodge due to construction in Fishtown.
Morton explained that the Lodge is no longer an option and the chamber is looking for an alternate site.
He suggested closing Lake Street between River and Pearl streets. This would require the board endorse the plan which then go to the county Road Commission for approval.
Money raised at the event goes back to the community through the July 3 fireworks, among others.
Morton is expected to continue his search and revisit and issue at future board meeting.
