Salary resolutions which include a minimum 5% raise for board members were adopted this week by the Leland Township Board.

The board in separate motions Monday, approved the resolutions which must be completed 30 days prior to the township annual meeting of electors scheduled at 10 a.m., March 30 at the Old Art Building in Leland.

The resolutions, approved 4-0 with Clerk Lisa Brookfield excused, included 5% raise for the supervisor, treasurer and trustee, and a little more for the clerk’s position.

If approved by those attending the annual meeting of electors, compensation for the supervisor position will go from $31,500 to $33,075 in 2024-25; treasurer $42,000 to $44,100 and trustees from $7,200 to $7,560.

A 6.9% raise was included in the salary resolution for the clerk. If adopted, compensation for the clerk’s position will go from $46,746 to $50,250.

“The clerk’s resolution includes a little more because her workload has increased with election duties,” Supervisor Susan Och said.

Information from the salary resolutions will be included in the proposed 2024-25 budget. The board is scheduled to meet at 11:30 today for a budget workshop.

In other business during their monthly meeting board members approved a request from the Parks and Recreation Committee to conduct a survey the results of which will be used to update the township’s Parks and Recreation Plan. The current plan expires at the end of the calendar year.
