Fleis scholarship applications sought

The Ed & Irene Fleis Education Fund is accepting applications for 75 scholarships for students in Leelanau County or with Leelanau lineage. Students may apply online for one of the $1,200 scholarships through April 30.

The Ed & Irene Fleis Education Fund is accepting applications for 75 scholarships for students in Leelanau County or with Leelanau lineage.

Students may apply online for one of the $1,200 scholarships through April 30. Winners will be notified by mail or email.

Ted Fleis, president of the Fleis Education Fund Board of Directors, announced today that $90,000 will be awarded again in 2024.

The Education Fund is a 501(c) charity that provides financial assistance to help students achieve their higher education goals whether it be college and trade schools. Since 2006, $667,000 in scholarships have been distributed to 367 students by the Endowment Fund. For more information, contact Ted Fleis, at 877.771.0775.

Scholarship funds are raised annually through donations, a golf outing, and an online auction. The golf outing is planned for Saturday, Aug. 3.

Applications, which must be postmarked by April 30, are available at fleiseducationfund. org.
