Leelanau County now has two K-9 officers.
Deputies Jordan Strope and Cameron Drzewiecki along with their K-9 partners successfully graduated from handlers school with Fresh Coast K-9 LLC in Ludington Friday.
Strope and his K-9 partner Keno, have been with the Sheriff’s Office for almost five years. Keno was recently purchased using donation funds approved by the Leelanau County Board of Commissioners. Keno is trained in narcotics detection, article searches, offender and missing person tracking as well as handler protection.
Drzewiecki and his partner Klouse have both been with the Sheriff’s Office for almost three years. Drzewiecki was recently paired with Klouse after his previous handler had decided to leave employment with the Sheriff’s Office. Klouse is also trained in narcotics detection, article searches, offender and missing person tracking as well as handler protection.
