Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore (National Lakeshore) is recruiting local high school students to create digital media.

By volunteering, students will gain invaluable real-world experience in content creation. Students will learn how to make accessible content that meets government policy. Students will follow their own interests to make products that they see as fun or relevant. Hours spent on the project will count towards volunteer service hours for a college application or resume.

Options for volunteer projects include, but are not limited to:

• Act as a photographer or videographer for park programs, events, and scenery.

• Become a social media content creator for Facebook, Instagram, and X.

• Develop a podcast about the National Lakeshore.

• Write articles for the National Park Service website.

The National Lakeshore can loan audio and visual equipment to use for projects. Bus passes are also available to access the park if needed.

If interested, contact the National Lakeshore at slbe_education@ nps.gov. In your email, please include your name, what high school you are attending, and a project idea. Students are welcome to apply as a group.
