To the editor:
The letters written to the editor in the Jan. 11 edition show a reliance on biased media for information regarding January 6. Slowly the truth is trickling out to the public but it has taken three years. Yet, the censorship continues.
IF the people attending the Capitol that day had intended to overthrow the government by an “insurrection,”then there is no doubt it would have happened. The sheer volume of concerned, unarmed Americans could have easily done it. The intent was to support President Trump and express concern about the 2020 election. Trump made it clear to proceed to the Capitol “peacefully and patriotically.”
Had security been a concern, why did Speaker Pelosi refuse extra security measures (her daughter was conveniently doing a documentary filming at the Capitol that day)? Why was Ray Epps, wearing a red Trump hat, repeatedly telling supporters to “Go into the Capitol”, only recently fined $500 and a year probation while others who were not even in DC are spending years in prison? How about Epps was a federal agent otherwise he would currently be in prison. The facts don’t add up and truth is being suppressed.
I agree with Mr. Franzo that it’s important to seek credible news sources (turn off MSNBC, CNN and even FOX) and engage in respectful dialogue with others. Start with those who actually were in DC on January 6, 2021. They are your neighbors, business owners, and you’ll also find them next to you in church.
