Pathfinder students serve during MLK Day

Students from The Pathfinder School in Elmwood Township participated in a day of service Monday in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Students from The Pathfinder School in Elmwood Township participated in a day of service Monday in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The initiative is part of the school’s ongoing commitment to instilling values of compassion, empathy and social responsibility in its students.

Throughout the day students engaged in various service activities with community partners. These activities included:

• Cherryland Humane Society — Assisting with caring for animals and helping with various tasks around the shelter to support the organization’s mission.

• Orchard Creek Senior Center and Medilodge — Spending time with residents and performing songs and providing entertainment to brighten their day.

• Project Feed the Kids — Helping with meal preparation and distribution.

• Power! Book Bags! — Organizing and assembling book bags filled with educational materials for children to support literacy initiatives.

• Olesons Food Store — Collecting donations and raising awareness about food insecurity in the community.
