‘Park after Dark’ dates set in February

Well I hope all you snowbirds are happy, you certainly got what you were hoping for. It’s a little tough getting around right now, but I guess it goes with the territory.

The National Park is sponsoring a pair of special candlelit walks this season at the Sleeping Bear Dunes. On Saturday, February 10 and Saturday, February 17th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Meet at the Dune climb. Guests may arrive anytime between6 and7:30 p.m. tojoin Park rangers and volunteers to experience the park after dark All ages are welcome, please leave pets at home as the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail is currently closed to dogs. According to a Park release the 1 mile path which follows a portion of the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail is on flat terrain that will be lit by luminaries. The self-guided hike should take approximately 30 minutes to one hour.

Congratulations to Ranae Ihme, named the number one leader in gross real estate sales for both Glen Arbor and Leelanau County for the eighth year running by the Northern Great Lakes Multiple Listing Service. She was also named in the top 10 agents in all the greater Grand Traverse region.

Back to snow, which we seem to have an overabundance of at the moment. Conditions will be great for those of you who want to go play in the snow. As of this writing, the Heritage Trail is in excellent condition as is Palmer Woods. I’m sure back country ski conditions are great at this time, but the trails may not be groomed. Dune Climb sledding obviously will be really good on a saucer, great fun. Empire Bluffs and Pyramid Point will be good but watch your step.

Happy Birthday wishes to Rachel Stein, Jacqueline Glazier, Sarah Dilley, Paul Kokowitz, Ruth Bolton, Josie Perfect, Marie Pfeiffer, Stacey Jago, John Razz, Stephan Stepanek, and special Happy Birthday wishes to sister-in-law Maureen Sweeney MacGillivray and son-in-law Richard Wilcox.

Both of our northern teams did great, Green Bay on the other side of the lake and the hometown favorites Detroit.

Be extra careful walking and driving, it will be there when you get there and so will they.

Wishing you a Happy Whatever Doesn’t offend you.

Go Patriotism.
