Cherryland Cares awarded a total of $15,300 to three northwest Michigan area non-profit organizations last quarter.

The Grand Traverse Dyslexia Association will use this funding to support students who need assistance with tuition. Step Up Northern Michigan plans to spread the funding across their pantries that help students at a number of area schools, and Tart Trails Inc. received funding to support their Recycle-a-Bicycle program.

In 2023, the Cherryland Cares program awarded $61,270 in grant funding to local non-profits. The program began in 2006 and has since given a total of $754,146.60 in grant funding to programs that support our local community.

Cherryland Cares is a charitable fund overseen by a group of five volunteer Cherryland Electric Cooperative members who review grant applications and allocate money to non-profit organizations seeking assistance. Cherryland Cares is funded by members electing to round up their monthly Cherryland electric bill to the nearest dollar.
