Glen Lake organizational meeting

Cory McNitt was reelected president of the Glen Lake Board of Education this week. The board voted to designate McNitt as its leader.

Cory McNitt was reelected president of the Glen Lake Board of Education this week.

The board voted to designate McNitt as its leader. Rick Schanhals was named vice president and Lisa Siddall is board treasurer.

This was part of the board’s organization meeting held Monday prior to the board’s first meeting of the 2024 calendar year.

In terms of organizational structure the board retired several committees which were replaced with just two: facilities and finance.

Retired committees are: building and grounds, current and future enrollment, interim superintendent search; policy and personnel and scholastic and interscholastic learning.

In other organizational business the board:

• Agreed to continue meeting on the second Monday of each month with the exception of May, when it will be held on the first Monday, May 6. The board will continue meeting at 6 p.m. in the high school media center.

• Scheduled “workshop meetings” on the following dates: Jan. 22, Feb. 26, April 22, May 20, June 24, Aug. 26, Sept. 23 and Oct. 28. These will also take place at 6 p.m. in the high school media center.

• Designated State Savings Bank, and the Michigan Liquid Asset Fund (MILAF) as depositories for the general fund, payroll, activity, lunch, and athletic funds for the 2024 calendar year.

• Authorized the superintendent and director of finance to receive, record and deposit school funds.

• Agreed to continue its relationship with the Thrun Law Firm as its attorney.

• Approved NEOLA as the board’s bylaws, policies and administrative guidelines consulting company.

• Approved payments for district obligations via ACH (Automated Clearing House).
