The Empire Asparagus Festival is back for a day filled with local asparagus eats, music and other activities for the whole family Saturday.
The day opens at 10 a.m. with the Kick-yer-Assparagus 5K fun run and walk, followed by a noon asparagus recipe contest at the Empire Township Hall.
Local vendors will be there with asparagus eats with food local, breweries and music.
The Empire Area Heritage Museum will host an open house from 1 to 2 p.m. “Miss Asparagus on Stilts” will perform from 2 to 4 p.m.
A Children’s magic show with Gordon Russ is slated for 3-4 p.m. And at the same time, there’s the “Ode to asparagus Poetry Contest,” at the Glen Lake Library.
In other fun this weekend, Hop Lot in Suttons Bay will be celebrating 10 years with an anniversary party Saturday from noon to 9 p.m.
Enjoy beer, food, and live music from Levi Britton; Empire Highway; and Mike Morgan.
