The Glen Arbor township board has proposed a recommended expenditure budget of $704,983.80, which includes four township officer salary raises, and expects $658,950 in revenue for the 2025-26 fiscal year that would be approved at the end of the month.
Property tax revenue is expected to have a slight uptick of 6.7%.
The ordinary budget expenditures are down by over $50,000, compared to the previous fiscal year, along with a 1.2% estimated decrease to revenue. Despite expecting a dip in money coming into the town, township supervisor, Tom Laureto, said that there is plenty of cushion within the income budget.
A 2.5% raise for four of the township officials is included in the resolutions. If adopted, these raises total $3,561. The supervisor salary would see an increase from $30,256 to $31,012; trustee salary from $8,294 to $8,501; clerk salary from $62,001 to $63,550; the treasurer salary from $42,001 to $43,050.
Election expenses are notably down this year by over $4,000 with no elections planned for this year. Budgeted funds are available, however, and may be used if there is a special election called or if they are needed for a school board election.
One of the larger changes seen this year will come from ending the tower lease that has provided Glen Arbor with public WiFi, resulting in a $25,000 loss of revenue, and a savings of $5,500.
The buildings and grounds budget shows a proposed 30% increase largely due to $100,000 being allocated to pay for a new town hall parking lot. Another notable capital improvement expense includes $3,000 for the boat ramp.
Parks and recreation will see a $13,000 increase to cover the cost of a new plumbing pressure tank, and $4,000 to replace playground equipment if needed.
The township board is expected to hold a special meeting open to the public on the morning of March 31 at 10 am to formally adopt the budget for the new fiscal year starting April 1 to March 31, 2026.
