The season came to an end for the Glen Lake boys basketball team on Thursday, as they lost 62-41 to Ishpeming Westwood in Sault Ste. Marie during an MHSAA Div. 3 regional final Thursday.

“This year’s group, how they came to work every day, giving 110% effort, and how we bonded and connected outside of practice and basketball. I’m really going to miss that,” Glen Lake senior guard Benji Allen said. “A lot of people say don’t look past this time and make every moment count, and at first, you kind of ignore that, but it does go by really fast. The younger guys know to go hard every day in practice and never wish you were somewhere else because these times really go by fast.”

Glen Lake ended its season with a 23-2 overall record.

The Lakers, ranked No. 2 in Division 3, secured the first quarter with a score of 18-17 before heading into the second frame. After that, the Patriots (21-5) found their rhythm in a zone defense, disrupting the Lakers’ game plan.

For the majority of the game, Ishpeming was in command, leading the Lakers 34-30 halftime. Although Glen Lake tried to make some changes, they had a sluggish third quarter. The Patriots seized every opportunity from turnovers, steadily increasing their lead to an uncatchable point.

Glen Lake junior Jacob Plamondon scored 17 points and had three rebounds, while senior Benji Allen finished with nine points, four rebounds, and four assists.

“All season long, this group of guys worked hard and played with a lot of heart ... Thank you to the spectators for all of their support. It’s always hard at the end when the last game comes,” Glen Lake coach Jason Bradford said. “They played with their hearts out … There’s a lot to learn from tonight and many positives you get out of a game like this for the future,” Bradford said.”

Glen Lake captured a northwest Conference Championship and district championships during the 2024-25 season. The Lakers defeated Harbor Spring 62-52 in the regional semi-final last week.
