As of this writing the sun is shining and is 34°, we all know that it will change but right now people are sticking their heads out of the door and seeing sunshine and maybe go outside. As I said is 34° today it’s “Up North” shorts weather. I understand that the polar dip in Empire was it’s usual success, I wrote about the polar dip at the Empire Winterfest in 1999. I wrote “the pool tournament was a success on Friday at the Village Inn and the Polar Dip was held on Saturday around 2 p.m. and as I said then “about 30 formerly sane people jumped into a hole in Bar Lake.”
I’m not sure if it’s the same year but I also wrote “11-yearold Andy Soderholm jumped into the ice cold water at Empire Winterfest Polar Dip and his parents are now reportedly able to save money during the winter by just breaking a hole in little Glen so Andy can bath in the morning before school.” As I remember, it didn’t work out.
You ever get too much chili in the winter, and Saturday March 22nd between 1 and 3 p.m. The Community Chili Cookoff will take place at the Empire Township Hall. This is a fundraiser for the Empire Food Pantry and Empire Paper Pantry. If you would like to enter a chili call 989-560-1667.

There are too many meaningless and controversial ideas and statements going out and about. It will change nothing.
