Scholarship applications for more than 100 scholarships available from the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation (GTRCF) are due March 3.
GTRCF is accepting applications from graduating high school seniors, current college students, and vocational/trade school students across Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, and Leelanau Counties and the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa & Chippewa Indians.
Scholarships available for students in one or more communities in Leelanau County, include:
• Helen and Dale Cropsey Scholarship for graduating seniors or current college students who are attending college in Michigan and demonstrate financial need and attend church in the Suttons Bay or Bingham area.
• Ed and Nessa Laing Scholarship for graduating seniors that are planning to pursue a post-secondary education (including trade school, certification program, college, or university) with a focus on preparation for a trade, technical or vocational profession. Preference is given first for students from Suttons Bay Public Schools; second for students from Leelanau County, and third for students from Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse and Kalkaska Counties.
• Ernest B. Isaacsen Scholarship for graduating seniors from Grand Traverse, Kalkaska and Leelanau Counties who are planning to attend Northwestern Michigan College, Michigan State University, University of Michigan or Wayne State University.
Students from Leelanau County may also be eligible for more than 20 other regionally available scholarships, such as:
• Martha Scarborough Scholarship for individuals up to 24 years old from Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, or Leelanau County who have aged out of foster care.
• Robert Paul Dost Scholarship for students in Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, or Leelanau County that are planning to pursue electrical engineering.
• University Center Scholarship for students who are residents of Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, or Leelanau County, are enrolled at the Northwestern Michigan College
• University Center, and are pursuing a degree in the human services field, including social work, nursing, or family life.
• Dylan Williams Memorial Scholarship and the Recovery Road Scholarship for students from the region who have a parent that has lost their battle with addiction.
• Katie Bigelow NP Memorial Scholarship for single mothers who are enrolled in a post-secondary degree program and reside in Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, or Leelanau County. Preference is given to those pursuing nursing or programs in the medical field.
• Robert “Robbie” Detwiler Memorial Scholarship is available for graduating high school seniors and enrolled college students from Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, or Leelanau County that are pursuing a degree in architecture or the building trades.
