Suttons Bay Public Schools 7th & 8th Grade Band and High School Band delivered outstanding performances Saturday at the MSBOA Band & Orchestra Festival, earning well-deserved recognition for their dedication and talent.
The High School Band achieved an overall Division I rating, signifying a “superior performance.” This marks a historic milestone, as it is the first time in 10 years that our high school musicians have earned this prestigious rating. Meanwhile, our 7th & 8th Grade Band received an impressive Division II rating, meaning an “excellent performance”— the first time in five years that our middle school students have reached this level.
This achievement is even more remarkable considering the ongoing rebuilding of our band program, which began just last year. The dedication, perseverance, and passion of our students, under the guidance of our talented band director, Dante Billeci, have resulted in this momentous success.
“We are incredibly proud of our students for their hard work and commitment to excellence,” said Billeci. “This accomplishment is a testament to their dedication and the bright future of our band program.”
With their Division I rating, the High School Band now qualifi es for the State Band & Orchestra Festival, where they will have the incredible opportunity to perform alongside the best high school bands in the state.
