Bundled up for fun
Two Leelanau communities are celebrating winter this weekend.
Glen Arbor’s favorite event of the winter, the annual Chili Cook-Off, is slated to take place Saturday from noon to 2:30 p.m. on the deck at Boonedocks in Glen Arbor.
This fan-favorite event promises a flavorful showdown and celebration of winter in Leelanau County.
“A lot of people look forward to this event and we love to see each other this winter. We are always happy to fundraiser and are happy to help where we can,” Boonedocks owner Stephanie Ewing said.
This is the 26th year of the local favorite event.
Dress for the weather and bring an appetite. Admission to the chili cook-off is $15 per-person, ages 6 and up. The cost of admission includes all the chili samples that are in a buffet style.
Kids under 6 enter for free. The perch fishing contest is also happening this year for the first time since 2023 as ice conditions on Little Glen Lake look solid.
