The Leelanau Township Community Foundation (LTCF) Board of Trustees approved grants to four organizations in Leelanau County later this year:
• Northport’s Youth Advisory Council, (YAC) and National Honor Society (NHS), recipients of a $9,002 grant from the Youth Endowment Fund and Booster Club Fund to cover travel expenses for 11 students and three chaperones for their Close Up trip to Washington D.C.
• Northport’s National Honor Society, recipient of a $1,000 grant from the Youth Endowment Fund to purchase donations to “Fill the Bus” for county students to ensure a happy holiday season for all.
• ShareCare, recipient of a $3,000 grant from the General Endowment Fund to expand their newsletter mailings to the seniors of Leelanau Township in order to keep seniors and caregivers more consistently informed of essential services, resources, and wellness programs.
• Leelanau Investing for Teens (LIFT), recipient of a $10,000 grant from the General Endowment Fund to support funding for LIFT’s out-ofschooltime programming for 6th through 12th graders at Northport Public Schools in the 2024-2025 academic year.
In addition to these four grants awarded in November 2024, LTCF recently awarded the following grant at their last board meeting:
• Leelanau Township Fire Department (LTFD), recipient of a $16,924 grant from the General Endowment Fund and the Leelanau Township Health and Wellness Fund to purchase the Lucas 3.1 chest compression system. This device takes human error out of CPR and has been found to increase the chances of survival.
