To the editor:
While reading “Team of Rivals,” a biography of President Lincoln, I stepped into 2025 with a wanting to keep good health and determined to make the best of it while standing next to my fellow Americans. Saying “Happy New Year” to friends, and in passing, to a man at the P.O. and the ladies at the grocery, felt uplifting.
Then, the very next day my happy bubble was popped, when “he” falsely claimed that the crazy mad man, murderer on Bourbon Street, was an immigrant. This being his first lie (day 1) this year. Why lie!? Why? Perhaps one reason (other than he being the immigrant expert) is to distract from the fact he boldly once told us, “I have completely wiped out ISIS”, which this murderer represented.
I contend, had a bar of soap been stuck in his (anyones) mouth early on, it would have put a stop to the dangerous, most harmful self-serving game he continues to play. Had so, maybe now society would be less fearful, and soap sales (rather than Bible) would be up by 22%.
