A new announcement system will be installed at Suttons Bay Public School after action this week by the Board of Education.
The board voted unanimously Monday night to approve the purchase of a new communication system from People Driven Technologies at a not-to-exceed price of $300,000.
The purchase is made possible through the district’s sinking fund millage and will replace a system which dates back to the 1990s.
In other business during the 1 1/4-hour meeting the board:
• Recognized Richard Enoch as support staff member and Lauren Petz, middle school teacher, employees of the month.
• Learned that 13 Suttons Bay students were dual-enrolled at Northwestern Michigan College for first semester, earning 72 college credits.
• Learned that the district is establishing a Norsemen Athletic Hall of Fame, with the first inductees to be identified at a home basketball game in February.
• Approved the hiring of Kaleb Grant has varsity baseball coach, replacing longtime coach Doug Periard, who retired after last season.
