The Leland Township Library is scheduled to begin its planned renovation project on Feb. 3 to enhance and update its facility.
During he estimated 8 to 10-week initial construction phase, the library will continue to provide essential services from its community meeting space, the Munnecke Room.
“This renovation represents our commitment to creating a more functional and updated space for our community,” Mark Morton, library director said. “While we understand the temporary inconvenience, these improvements will significantly enhance the library experience for our patrons for years to come.”
During construction, the library will maintain core services including limited materials for browsing and checkout, MEL (Michigan eLibrary) services, access to two public computers, printing services, fax and notary service. Popular recurring programs such as Storytime and Book Club will temporarily relocate to the Leland Community United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 106 Fourth St. in Leland.
The renovation project will transform the Library’s payout to better serve our community’s evolving needs while address aging infrastructure. Plans include an expanded children’s room, a new teen area, and multiple study/meeting rooms, all designed to enhance accessibility throughout the building.
Detailed architectural renderings of the project are available on the Leland Library website, lelandlibrary.org. or upon request.
