At the regular meeting of Glen Arbor Township’s Planning Commission, the public packed the gymnasium of the township hall to hear a presentation from Conor McCahill, whose family owns several businesses in the township. *** A routine vote during the annual organizational meeting of the Leelanau County Board of Commissioners this week could have a big impact on how a new “early childhood services” initiative that voters narrowly approved last year may be implemented. As part of the annual process of appointing commissioners to serve on various outside boards, commissions and authorities, the Leelanau County Board decided to replace District No. 7 Commissioner Melinda Lautner on the Benzie-Leelanau District Health Board with

Glen Arbor attorney and teacher became the County’s first woman probate judge. *** Elmwood Township Board has notified Grand Traverse County Board of Commissioners it is not willing to pay $5,000 a year for ambulance service, but the Township Board at its last meeting voted to postpone any action on the matter until its April 1 annual meeting.

The Elmwood Township Board, sponsoring organization, Tuesday night chose “Greilickville Harbor” as the name of the proposed $325,000 government installation there. The board accepted a long list of harbor rules and regulations already approved by the Michigan Waterways Commission. *** Fifty mile winds Tuesday gave fishing boats in Lake Michigan unmerciful beatings before they reached port and caused the Coast Guard Air Base at Traverse City to send a plane on a daring but unnecessary mission. The storm hit at eight in the morning.
