Unionized firefighters working for Cedar Area Fire & Rescue (CAFR) have a new contract.
The CAFR board approved the contract during a special Dec. 18 meeting.
The union, Local 4953 of the International Association of Firefighters, had earlier ratified the document.
“Neither side got exactly what they wanted, but were able to work together to come to an agreement,” said Greg Julian, chair of the CAFR board.
The three-year agreement is effective Jan. 1, 2025 to the same day in 2028 and includes 3% annual wages increases.
The contract applies to the department’s six full-time staff members.
