SB students qualify for business state competition

The Suttons Bay School Business Professionals of America (BPA) club achieved outstanding success at the recent regional competition, with all participating students placing their events and earning qualifications for the state competition, set for March 13 to 16 in Grand Rapids.

This year’s competition highlighted the students’ hard work, dedication, and professional skills.

“We are incredibly proud of our students and their achievements at the regional competition,” said Meredith Schmidt, Suttons Bay guidance counselor and BPA advisor. “Their commitment to excellence and professionalism is inspiring, and we are thrilled to see them represent our school at the state competition in March.”

Individually, Anna Porter, a sophomore, earned first in Interview Skills and Elle O’Dwyer, freshman, fourth in Fundamental Accounting.

The Parliamentary Procedure Team comprised of all freshmen came home with a first. The team included Olivia Smith, O’Dwyer, Raiden Burns and Cecelia Koleno.

Teammates include The “Presentation Team” finished second for their presentation on Artificial Intelligence. Team members include Isabelle Porter, senior; Anna Porter, sophomore and Jorge Gomez, freshman.

BPA is a national organization that prepared students for careers in business management, information technology, finance, and other related fields through competitions, leadership opportunities, and professional development activities.

The Suttons Bay community is invited to support the BPA club as they prepare for the state competition. Contributions or sponsorships to help cover travel and participation cost are welcomed and can be coordinated through the school.
