Freiberger promoted to digital editor

Publisher David Thornberry announced today that Brian Freiberger has been promoted to digital editor for the Leelanau Enterprise. It is a newly created position at the Enterprise.

“Brian has a passion for digital and the online landscape. He was quintessential in our unprecedented quick launch of the weekly Enterprise Extra Newsletter,” Thornberry said. “We have several digital and new offerings for subscribers and Brian will be a perfect addition in this role.”

As to those new offerings, Thornberry said, “I would rather bring them out as we go instead of over-promising anything. The process of these several new projects includes getting the best local people to focus energies and success and for us to do adequate research on what our readers and local communities want and would enjoy and the best platform to deliver it.”

Freiberger joined the Enterprise staff in March 2021 and jumped in to cover sports. However, his role has expanded to school, village and township coverage as well.

Enterprise Editor Amy Hubbell commented: “In his 3 1/2-year tenure, Brian has become a go-to for whatever needs to be done,” Hubbell said. “He’s the first to step up and we’re confident he will succeed in this endeavor.”

Freiberger is enthusiastic about his new role.

“I’m excited and eager for this new opportunity to expand my skills,” he said.
