To the editor:
We watch what addictive substance is doing to people, from vaping to experimentation with many street drugs that are euphoriants producing a fleeting euphoria armed with addiction.
Counseling in prison and county jails, the ugly side of addiction with tragic outcomes is continuous, some seek help and get free of addiction. A few find their way home to Jesus and start to have a lasting spiritual euphoria.
“Foundation for a drug free World” does well in exposing the truth of various drugs. Marijuana is a gateway drug for many, particularly among our youth.
The number one drug found in those arrested for crimes is marijuana, second to alcohol. Marijuana is found in those in fatal vehicle accidents.
THC, short for the chemical tetrahydrocannabinol, creates mind-altering effects that classifi es marijuana as a “drug.”
Michael R. Shevok with experience working street drugs, in a newspaper article said proponents of legalization of marijuana posit weed is no different from alcohol, an assertion which is so false as to be irresponsible, alcohol is water soluble and passes out of the blood stream in hours. THC is fat soluble, meaning it lodges itself throughout the body and remains for days. Numbing one’s brain does not make one a better person. Doing it on a mass scale will never make a better society.”
Even with this knowledge, recreational marijuana facilities are abound. Are we losing our ability to think rationally?
