Full schedule of music programs
Organizations from all over are hosting musical/vocal performances from now through Christmas.
• The Leelanau Children’s Choir and Youth Ensemble will kick off the concert season with the 32nd annual Madrigal Christmas concert at 7 p.m., Friday at the Leland United Methodist Church. Tickets are $15 adults; students $5 at door or on call.

• Songwriter Steve Clark and a lively band of acoustic musicians will bring an original version of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” Friday at 7 p.m. at the Willowbrook Inn in Northport. The 7 p.m. concert called “The Haunting of Ebenezer.” Tickets range in price from $15 to $30 and can be purchased at hauntingofebenezer. com.
• The Leelanau Community Choir has been rehearsing since early October for “Caroling. Caroling” — three concerts scheduled Saturday, Dec. 7 and Sunday, Dec. 8.
Jonah Powell directs the group that has been performing for more than 40 years. Selections include traditional carols and many others, including a jazz tune popularized by the Manhattan Transfer.
The first concert is set for 7:30 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Leland. A 2:30 p.m. matinee will be performed at the Suttons Bay Congregational Church on Sunday and a final appearance is set for 7 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Glen Arbor.
There is no cost to attend. However, donations are appreciated.
• Saturday, Dec. 7 the Interlochen in Town Jazz Orchestra will perform Duke Ellington’s “Nutcracker “ at the Bay Community Theatre in Suttons Bay. There will be two show — one at 1 and another at 4:30 p.m. Tickets are available at thebaytheatre.com.
• Sunday, Dec. 8 is a big day in Northport when the Northport Community Band and Village Voices Holiday Concert at the stage at the Northport Performing Art Center. Tickets for the event, scheduled from 3 to 5 p.m., are $15 for adults; $5 for students. Northport students admitted free of charge.
• On Tuesday, Dec. 10, Glen Lake’s secondary band will perform a 7 p.m. concert, under the director of teacher Elaina Abarrak. On Dec. 17 the elementary concert will be held at 6:15 p.m. on Dec. 17.
• December 11, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. is the Northport School Holiday Concert in the school auditorium. For tickets and information: www.northportperformingarts. org Students in grades K-5 will sing familiar holiday tunes, followed by the middle and high school band performances. Free admission, and everyone is welcome.
• Suttons Bay Public School will host a Winter Concert and Art Show on Thursday, Dec. 12, beginning at 6 p.m. with a K-5 music showcase with grades 6-12 bands and choirs after an intermission.
• St. Mary first and secondgraders will perform a nativity play at 9:15 a.m. Dec. 13 at the school in Lake Leelanau. The secondary concert will be performed Dec. 19. Attendance is limited to parents and family.
• The Bay Community Theatre will host a Grand Concert, Saturday Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. The event will again have full ensemble of musicians, featuring some of the area’s talent — Miriam Pico and David Chown. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are available at thebaytheatre.com.
