To the editor:
Do you remember the Maffia mob boss John Gotti — the so called “Teflon John” because he was indicted and tried in three different consecutive trials on felony charges of five murders, obstruction of justice, extortion and racketeering and found guilty.
Gotti avoided consequences for his crimes but never once claimed he was being “picked on” or was the object of someone’s animus. Finally, in a subsequent trial, Gotti was convicted of these crimes, given a life sentence and died in prison. He did the crimes, so he did the time.
Similarly, “Teflon Donald Trump” has, thus far, escaped consequences for similar crimes committed both before and during his presidency. Instead of facing the coming federal and state trials with self-assurance, he loudly claims he is “picked on” and a victim of a personal and political vendetta. The MAGA Republican cult mindlessly repeats these baseless claims.
Teflon Donald now faces 91 felony indictments. These were all charged by a cross section of ordinary citizens in neutral grand juries in four different jurisdictions.
Your Teflon has worn thin, Donald, and there won’t be any on your orange overalls.
