With the Thanksgiving holiday just around the corner, there’s more to planning that special holiday meal.

After all, libations can propel an average holiday into a festive holiday.

An infusion of orange juice, cardamom, and rosemary is recommended by Zoey Moseler of Northern Latitude’s with its “Getting through the holidays spirit.” Another option is ‘Jack O’Lan Gin’ made with Northern Latitudes orange liqueur and Jack Pine Gin in a fun local twist.

“It’s so delicious. It has just that little extra spice to it,” Zoey said. “We wanted to add that fun little twist there. The orange juice adds that extra little pop with the cardamom in there as well as the rosemary.”

Northern Latitudes will switch its menu to holiday favorites over the next week or two.

For Zoey, she prefers dabbling in a local bottle of wine, before whipping up her favorite Cheer Mule along with Northern Latitudes ‘aquavit’ which has grown into a holiday cocktail that is delicious alongside a classic bottle of gin and tonic.

Good Harbor Wines is prepare for the holiday occasion with advice of its own when it comes to drinking wine on turkey day.

Sophie Brown of Good Harbor Vineyards recommends placing a bottle of dry riesling or pinot noir Red Zweigelt for all to enjoy with a delicious Thanksgiving dinner.

Boathouse Vineyards tested its wines during a Thanksgiving taste test with employees at the end of September. One of the favorites that paired with everything was Boathouse Rosé.

The staff at Boathouse prepared turkey breasts with mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie to test wines for Thanksgiving dinner.

“Our cabernet franc rosé was our unanimous choice for pairing with turkey breast. Our chardonnay came in second. Chardonnay and pinot blanc are excellent choices with mashed potatoes. Our 2023 sweet riesling was a unanimous choice with the delicious staffprepared pumpkin pie,” Boathouse owner David Alberts said. “We do these meals often after a busy Saturday and then have fun experimenting with our wines with the various foods our staff prepares.”

The 2023 Sweet Riesling complements pumpkin pie’s warm spices for a festive holiday pairing.

With delicate notes of underripe strawberry and a hint of pepper, the 2022 Cabernet Franc Rose adds a bright, savory touch to every bit of Thanksgiving turkey, according to Alberts.

Albert’s advice when finding a quality dessert wine for Thanksgiving is to ensure the wine is sweeter than the dessert. Otherwise, the wine will taste flat.

The winery will promote its 2023 sweet riesling and 2022 cabernet franc roses for a limited time they are offering 15% off plus a mix-and-match 6-pack of holiday favorites.
