All treats, no tricks

Goblins, ghouls, and ghosts are set to take over Leelanau this Halloween, as a series of spooktacular events bring in the festive holiday. From trick or treating that promises spooky costumes to family-friendly pumpkin events, there’s no shortage of scares and treats this Halloween.

Goblins, ghouls, and ghosts are set to take over Leelanau this Halloween, as a series of spooktacular events bring in the festive holiday.

From trick or treating that promises spooky costumes to family-friendly pumpkin events, there’s no shortage of scares and treats this Halloween.

The fall festivities will kick off Friday 10:30 a.m. to noon at Leland Public Library with pumpkin painting, story time, cider, donuts, and costumes.

A Halloween party will take place at Leland’s Old Art Building from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday with face-painting, crafts, cider and donuts, and more ; or a kids Halloween celebration at the Leelanau Township Library from 3 to 5:45 p.m. on Oct. 30, featuring arts, crafts, treats, and games.

The Glen Arbor Pumpkin Festival will take place Saturday for a fun, family, and friendly celebration of fall.

Located outdoors at the Glen Arbor Town Hall, the pumpkin festivities will take place from noon to 3 p.m. and includes spooky activities for kids of all ages including games, a pie eating contest, a Halloween costume contest, cake walk, crafts and pumpkin carving, of course.

There will be refreshments/ food available for purchase. Pumpkins will be put on display and lit at 6 p.m. for all to enjoy. Participants may return Saturday evening or early on Sunday to pick up their pumpkins. Open to the public. Entry: $5 suggested donation.

Some communities are also hosting Halloween, next Thursday Oct. 31.

The lower level of the government center in Suttons Bay Township will filled with little ghouls and goblins for the annual Happy Halloween Trick or Treat from 3 to 5 p.m. All are welcome to attend the event, which has proven popular with parents with small children.

From 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., the Northport community will continue its Halloween Hot Dog and Brat Party at The Mitten, 112 W. Nagonaba St.

A little to the south, a trunkor- treat event Halloween night from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Suttons Bay-Bingham Fire station.

In Empire, the village will be hosting a trunk-or-treat on Halloween from 5 to 6:30 p.m. All ghosts, goblins, cowboys and cowgirls are invited to join the fun.

Sliders will be provided by the Empire United Methodist Church where donations are appreciated.

The event is open to all – the more the spookier.

Halloween for adults includes a“Well-O-Ween” will take place at French Valley Vineyard Friday, October 25.

All are invited to the festive evening of health and wellness. Festive apparel and costumes encouraged. A prize awarded for the best costume. Fresh press your own apple cider, light bites provided by the Leelanau Wellness Collective.

There will also be a “Spooktacular Costume Party” at Hive Coffee Co., Friday, Nov. 1 — part of the coffee shop’s ongoing “social club” series.
