Of colors and Halloween

I hope everyone enjoyed the three-day weekend for Columbus Day and welcome to fall, the colors are great becoming prettier and prettier every day. Happy 249th birthday to the Navy, our sailors deserve to feel honored and appreciated by proud Americans, like all of us.

Just to let you know in advance the Glen Arbor Players will be presenting “Sherlock Holmes And The Case Of The Jersey Lily” with performances starting Oct. 31. The entire schedule and more later.

Start gearing up for All Hallows Day a.k.a. Halloween as always the 2024 annual daytime trick-or-treating event in Glen Arbor will take place, Sunday, Oct. 27 from noon to 3 p.m. October 27, noon to 3 p.m. It’s a fun time and all of those ghosts, cowboys and girl, goblins and almost anything you can imagine. Have a great time.

Empire will celebrate with their annual “Trunk or Treat” on Oct. 31 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Help make it a success get your car over there by 4:30 p.m. to get parked and get ready. A lot of fun and another way to have fun safely and the kids enjoy it.

The Mill will have its inaugural hog roast next Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 4 p.m., a barbecue meal-dessert and seasonal activities.

For more good food, the Empire Lions Club’s famous pancake breakfast will be held Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. Pancakes, local Maple syrup. You can’t beat it for adults $10 children 6 to 11 , $5 and kids under 6 free.

As always the Heritage Day open house at the Empire Area Museum Complex was outstanding. Very well attended and very well appreciated for the hard work and dedication.

Happy Anniversary wishes to Mimi and Norm Wheeler.

We enjoyed a visit from former resident Marge Walker and nephew Kevin over the weekend, it’s been three years, too long.
