Appointment of winter coaches and school-sponsored clubs OK’d this week by the Suttons Bay Board of Education.
The board approved a slate of winter athletic coaches Monday night.
Noah Phillips was appointed to replace Ron Anderson as varsity boys basketball coach. Anderson retired at the end of the 2023-24 season.
Jordan Anderson was appointed boys junior varsity basketball coach.
The girls varsity basketball coach will be led by Mariah Kalchik and Aaron TwoCrow, junior varsity girls basketball.
Meanwhile, at the middle school level, middle school girls and boys basketball coach will be Leon Chimoski and Chris Burns, middle school basketball coach.
In other business during the 45-minute meeting the board:
• Recognized Kalie Haven, high school math and science teacher and Kathy Couturier and Brenda Capron, Title I interventionists, as October employees of the month.
• Approved an overnight trip to Michigan State University Oct. 21-22 for high school Business Professionals of America team.
• Formally identified three school-sponsored clubs which have required curricular ties: Art Club, Cultures Club and Pep Club.
• Heard a complaint from district resident Harry Steffens who his rights were violated after a group was asked to leave the Senior Expo at the school in June.
