The Leelanau Conservancy is hosting “Fall for Leelanau,” week-long celebration of autumn, Oct. 14 -20.
Everyone is welcome to an open house from 4 to 6 p.m., Monday, Oct. 14 at Palmer Woods, where they can get their hands dirty transplanting native plants and preparing trails for winter.
On Wednesday, Oct. 16 a virtual fall color tour through protected lands is set for Thursday, Oct. bring a magical super moon paddle on Lake Leelanau, guided by Tera John indigenous knowledge keeper.
Friday, Oct. 18, there will be an evening of food, music and conversation at the Conservancy’s Harvest Event at the DeYoung farm house in Elmwood Township. The event goes from 5 to 7 p.m. and will include a Leelanau food and farming panel which will include John, Nikki Rothwell, director of the Northwest Michigan Horticultural Research Center; and Nic Theisen, farmer at Loma Farm and co-owner of Farm Club. Music will be provided by Breathe Owl Breathe.
The week will conclude on Sunday, Oct. 20 with a 10 a.m. docent-led hike at the Kehl Lake Natural Area near Northport.
