The Glen Lake Fire Department has a new budget for 2025-26.
The township board adopted the spending plan last month after a public hearing at the board level and another held by the Glen Arbor Township Emergency Services Advisory Commission.
The spending plan calls for $2,776,000 up 2.41% from the previous budget year, an increase of $61,000.
The budget calls for $205,000 for fire operations; $94,500 for EMS operations; $150,000 for building operations.
Personnel expenses represent the bulk of the budget at $1,929,500, up from $1,841,500 last year. This represents a 4.76% increase.
Benefits are expected to drop 3.41% to $397,000 — a 3.41% decrease.
Net operations, which include $186,000 income, stands at $2,590,000.
Capital expenses in the budget are listed at $170,000, down from $320,000 last year.
Glen Arbor and Empire Township support the Glen Lake Fire Department.
Glen Arbor pays its share of expenses using a special assessment district.
Empire Township is authorized to levy up to five mills for this service.
The department operates two stations — one on State Street in Glen Arbor and another on LaCore Street in Empire.
