An estimated 550 people showed up Saturday for the inaugural Glen Lake Food and Flannel Fall Festival.

The event was planned by a committee of both Glen Lake staff and school families.

“What an amazing was the many different groups associated with the school that help,” committee Genevieve Thompson said.

This includes the Glen Lake PTO, Glen Lake Marching Band, the Laker football team and the Class of 2027.

Activities included: cider apple pressing; face painting; a book walk; bounce house; sheep herding demonstration; games on the turf (cornhole, giant Jenga and sock race); pig roast; donuts and pie eating contest.

There was also “touch a truck,” a family-friendly event that allows people to see, hear, and interact with a variety of vehicles and other modes of transportation.

“We are hopeful to make this an annual event,” Thompson said. “… We wanted a fun fall event for Leelanau County.”
