The Suttons Bay Council of the Knights of Columbus will host a benefit pancake breakfast for a Cedar man severely injured in an accident last month.

After 8:30 a.m. Mass Sunday, the Knights will begin serving breakfast which includes pancakes, sausage (links and patties), scrambled eggs and cheesy potatoes.

There will coffee, tea and juice to drink.

Proceeds go to the family of Rich Zywicki who was seriously injured in a Sept. 2 golf cart accident in which he was pinned to the ground, suffering head and brain injuries.

He was transported to Munson Medical Center, where he spent nearly four weeks in the Intensive Care Unit. He has since been transferred to Select Specialty Hospital- Corwell Health in Grand Rapids for more therapy.

Zywicki is familiar to some as the hardware man in Cedar.

Upon learning of the accident, Zywicki’s sister-in-law established a GoFundMe account, which generated $15,000 in just a few hours.

As of presstime Wednesday, 622 donors had contributed $93,450.
