Troop 131 invites everyone to their kickoff event, on Tuesday, September 10, from 6 to 7 p.m., at Keswick Church, 3376 S Center Hwy, three miles south of Suttons Bay.
The Troop will have an inflatable archery game set up, a campfire started with marshmallows to toast, other Scout activities to try like learning about knots, and a chance to learn more about the Scouts.
“We hope people will come and find out about the Scout activities available in the community,” said CubMaster Lynn Bakker. “We have Cub Scouts for both boys and girls in elementary school up to 5th grade, and Troop 131 is for boys and girls from 11 to 18 years old. “
The Scouts and Cubs meet every Tuesday during the school year at Keswick Church. The Cub Scouts meet 6 till 7 p.m. and the Scouts meet 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Michael Rokita, a Life Scout, mentioned that the Troop has a long list of upcoming events, including community service like food drives and roadway cleanup, cookouts, a camp out in the Upper Peninsula, and a camp called TrailBlazer with BB gun shooting and archery.
