This month is the National Park Service’s (NPS) 108th Birthday! The NPS was established This on August 25, 1916, with President Woodrow Wilson signing what is now called the Organic Act to “preserve unimpaired the natural and cultural resources and values of the National Park System for the enjoyment, education, and inspiration of this and future generations.”
The Empire Area Community Center Has two coming events, Friday and Saturday August 23 & 24 . “The Art of Karen Jacob “The exhibit will be open from Friday morning through Saturday evening at the township hall.
The next event, Anne-Marie Oomen will be presented the “Michigan Author Lifetime Achievement Award” on September 7. Neighbors and friends will celebrate her with a party at the Empire Township Hall on September 8th from 4:00pm until 7:00pm. There will be live music and Literary Readings.
The Cedar Polka Fest celebrating the towns Polish history. Lasting four days and nights, nearly 10,000 people descend into town for family fun. Join us to eat, drink, and dance the nights away. With live Polka music from the best Polka Bands in America, this festival is a real treat for Polka fans. The fest kicks off on Thursday, August 22nd for its 42nd year.
