4:50 a.m. — Glen Arbor — Cars parked in the parking spots designated for vehicles with trailers.
The driver of his truck, southbound on M-22, bypassed the curve in Omena and went into the bay. The driver was later arrested for operating while intoxicated. Courtesy photo

4:50 a.m. — Glen Arbor — Cars parked in the parking spots designated for vehicles with trailers. No place to park. Looks like vehicles have been there overnight.

9:12 a.m. — Empire Township — Neighbor’s dog was in caller’s chicken coop. At least one bird deceased.

11:09 a.m. — Elmwood Township — Two vehicles parked next door that are suspicious. Has been parked there for several days and appears each has someone living in it. Blue van and tan Toyota. (Law enforcement made contact with the person in the van who said he was waiting for a friend that works nearby. The car was unoccupied.)

12:02 p.m. — Bingham Township — Caller says the corner south of his house is dangerous and people often go off the road. Would like patrols toknowaboutit. Healso aseked about speed limit signs for the concern and was referred to the Road Commission.

4:47 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Illegal dumping from homeowner. They have overloaded dumpster. (Law enforcement spoke with both parties. They will remove the unauthorized items by noon tomorrow. Caller agreed to that plan and will contact law enforcement if other party does not comply.)

4:50 p.m. — Bingham Township — Caller said there’s a man that walks on their lawn. When asked not to, he flipped the caller off and said he walks wherever he wants. Caller would like to see law enforcement as this has happened before with him, and she is feeling threatened.

9:26 p.m. — Solon Township — Couple of guests departed in a Gray Volvo SUV who appeared to have been drinking and drove over a couple barriers.

Thursday, Aug. 15

12:44 a.m. — Leelanau Township — Caller advises there is a white van parked where the rental vehicles are supposed to be parked. Caller is not from the area and does not feel comfortable because she read about all the vehicle crimes that happen in the area.

2:10 a.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Caller woke up to what she believes is gunshots. She thinks it’s coming from the east. There was one, then two, then two more with just a few minutes in between. The last one she heard about five minutes ago. (Deputy at school and hasn’t heard anything. Checked area and several other places. No noises.)

Friday, Aug. 16

11:20 a.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Property damage boat accident within the marina.

12:49 p.m. — Bingham Township — Neighbor tore up 30 trees that were on the caller’s property. Caller wants them trespassed from the property.

1:11 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Caller says her mom wasn’t feeling well. Not answering her phone. (Per law enforcement, she’s just fine. Battery on her phone died. She will call her daughter.)

1:21 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Explosion just north of Hoxie Road.

1:48 p.m. — Leelanau Township — Four youths wearing black hoodies were seen around 5:30 this morning. Trying to use a golf cart. They were chased off by a boater.

4:48 p.m. — Glen Arbor Township — Caller saw a person walking around on camera. Wearing khaki pants and yellow shirt. (Contacts on the scene stated that the property was secure.)

6:33 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Blue Moped. Caller doesn’t have the plate. Female driver with blond hair and female passenger has tried to run caller off the road.

7:27 p.m. — Empire Township — Dog has been barking nonstop for the last two hours.

8:14 p.m. — Leelanau Township — Black Ford truck in the water. Partially submerged. (Driver arrested for operating while intoxicated.)

9:13 p.m. — Glen Arbor Township — Fireworks going off at house at the end of the road near the lake. Caller very frustrated and would like the area checked. (Per law enforcement, no noise in the area.)

11:06 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Caller was at the park with her daughter, who was playing with another child. Caller notified later than money was missing from her purse.

Sunday, Aug. 18

6:02 a.m. — Empire Township — Silver vehicle backed in at trailhead. Illegal camping.

7:04 a.m. — Glen Arbor Township — Converted bus/RV in the Dune Climb Parking Lot overnight.

1:21 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Road hazard. Tree has fallen onto a portion of Bugai Road. (Limbs cut back to the shoulder, lane is clear.)

7:54 p.m. — Leelanau Township — Caller reports a trespasser on his property. Says trespasser is fishing on a private lake.

8:05 p.m. — Empire Township — Stolen vehicle from Wisconsin last pinged on tower in Leelanau County.

8:51 p.m.— Empire Township — Caller is reporting his son will not leave his house. (One in custody.)

Monday, Aug. 19

2:41 a.m. — Cleveland Township — Neighbor is running a front end loader moving wood chips around his property.

8:45 a.m. — Bingham Township — Tractor was driving in front of the caller. Driver passed him because he didn’t have a blinker and then he ran into caller’s rear end.

3:08 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Looking out into the bay. People waving in a boat. Looks like they are in distress. Rough waters. Caller cannot tell how far out. (Law enforcement responds. One person in the water, maybe two. Person in water has a PDF. Boat uprighted. All occupants accounted for.)
