New class offerings were approved and staff was hired this week by the Suttons Bay Board of Education.

The board, with president Chris DeJong excused, voted Monday to unanimously to approve an updated class list for the 2024-25 school year.

The list, presented by Superintendent Casey Petz, includes: digital literacy, middle school current events, environmental science, high school lifeskills and middle school choir.

“Middle school students have had choir as an exploratory, but not as a designated class,” Petz said.

Board members also voted to reduce the number of required credits for graduation from 24 to 22. This is well above the state minimum requirement of 18, Petz said.

Board members also approved the hiring of:

• Christopher Reeve as K-12 principal

• Elizabeth Wadsworth as elementary assistant principal and director of professional development • Kim Gordon as middle school volleyball coach and

• Eduardo Fantozzi, middle school soccer coach.
