Plein Air weekend a blast

More than 130 artists participated in the Glen Arbor Art Center’s annual Plein Air weekend, Friday and Saturday. Sixty-four artists participated in the “Quick Draw” event Friday and 70 took part in Saturday’s Paint Out.

More than 130 artists participated in the Glen Arbor Art Center’s annual Plein Air weekend, Friday and Saturday.

Sixty-four artists participated in the “Quick Draw” event Friday and 70 took part in Saturday’s Paint Out.

The coveted Amy L. Clark-Carels award, which includes a $1,500 prize, was won by Robert W. Hadley of Delafield, Wisconsin.

Second place went to Mark Mehaffey of Empire, second; and Kathleen Conover of Marquette, third.

Honorable mentions went to David Westerfield and Don Drabik both of Maple City.

Awards for Saturday Paint Out went to Debra Howard of Omena, first place; Chris Gamble of Beverly Hills, Michigan; second and Mehaffey of Empire, third, Honorable mentions for the Paint Out were awarded to Pamela Wilburn of Dimondale, and Jamey Jackson of West Nyack, New York.

“We had close to $50,000 in artwork sales with artists receiving 60% of the total.

Total awards given to artists was $1,825.
