The stage is set for the November General Election as both parties have selected their nominees with Tuesday’s vote.

And here’s what has shaped up:

• Incumbent U.S. Rep. Jack Bergman, R-Watersmeet, handily defeated Roscommon veteran Josh Saul, winning the GOP primary 79% to 21%, with 98% of the vote in.

Bergman will face Democrat Callie Barr, a veterans’ advocate and lawyer in Traverse City, who beat Marquette’s Bob Lorinser 58% to 42%, with about 97% of the vote in.

• At the state level, incumbent Betsy Coffia, a Democrat, was unopposed in the Primary. She will face Republican Lisa Trombley who easily topped her party opponents garnering more than 62% of all ballots cast in the two-county district. Business owner Katie Kniss came in second with 32.3% of the vote. Just over 900 ballots were cast for Tripp Garcia of Traverse City, representing 5.1% of all ballots cast.

This mirrors the county votes that put Trombley, Kniss and Garcia, first, second and third.
