The Empire Lions Club will have their annual Chicken Dinner which is really called “The Empire Anchor Day Chicken Dinner” on Saturday from 1 to 7 p.m. at Lions Club Park.
For all that have partaken of the Lions Club chicken dinner, you know that it’s a great meal, chicken, baked beans, potato salad, rolls, drinks and strawberry shortcake. Tickets are $15 for adults; kids under 10, $6.
Takeouts are also available for those who’d like to stay home.
Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. the Friends of Sleeping Bear Dunes Empire farmer’s market on Front street. Also available to purchase “Picture Perfect Sleeping Bear”, a sparkling collection of full-color perfect souvenir for special times spent in our area.
Coming up on Tuesday the 23rd the 17th annual Running Bear Run, 5K and kids fun run starting at 9 a.m. in front of Cherry Republic, for more information go to (runningbearrun. com).
The event is sponsored by the Glen Arbor Women’s Club and is always a very popular event.
Another reminder and I am giving enough time, and on Sunday, July 28th, a very special day, “Parents day.”
More importantly and seriously, July 27 , National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day. There are still veterans around that were there.
