“Heroes of the Surf”

“Heroes of the Surf”, a weekly demonstration at the Maritime Museum in Glen Haven, reenacts life saving measures used to rescue sailors stranded in the rough waters of the Manitou Passage. Once a well traveled passage in the late 1800s and early 1900s, it wasn’t uncommon to see 100 vessels traveling through the passage. It is now the home of countless shipwrecks.
