To the editor:
Ninety percent of brain development happens in the first five years of life, when children’s parents are their first teachers. I am proud to live in a county that supports early childhood education through the Early Childhood Millage. This millage supports several programs including Parenting Communities. Family-centered events give young Leelanau families an opportunity to interact with other parents, children, and trained professionals. The result is access to parenting suggestions, resources, monthly newsletters; all helping to enrich the development of children through play. Please vote to renew the Early Childhood Millage this August.
