Well folks let’s get right to it, the Fourth of July week is a biggie as always in Glen Arbor, the annual parade is open to anyone who wants to celebrate the founding of our great country. Meet at Glen Haven Thursday morning early at 10:30 a.m. If you want to walk starts at the Christian Science Church in Glen Arbor. Candy will be thrown, so it’s up to the parents to keep the kids in check and let the people sweeping candy to the side to keep them safe.

The grand marshal of our Fourth of July Parade will be Jim Dorsey. Jim is a native Glen Lake person and he well deserves being the grand marshal. Jim Dorsey was postmaster for 28 years. Mr. Dorsey is celebrating his 99th birthday, and I can assure everyone, he is still active. He’s an amazing guy.

On July 3rd the NMC Concert Band will honor America with patriotic music and many musical favorites at the Glen Arbor Township Park. This will begin at 7:30 p.m., bring your own chair.

After everyone has rested up from the parade and the July 4th fun, on Sunday morning July 7 from 8 a.m. until noon the Glen Lake firefighters and paramedics will serve pancake breakfast at the Glen Arbor Township Hall. Proceeds from the annual pancake breakfast will defray cost of sending our Glen Lake firefighters to paramedic school and other training opportunities. Could not be a better cause, don’t forget to put something in the boot.

To everyone out there shooting off fireworks on the Fourth of July, I know it’s fun and if you get down to the lake you can see a great display, to everyone be very, very careful.

Happy Birthday wishes to Tim Cairns, Mimi Wheeler, brother Steve and George W. Bush. Have a great day.

A word to all the graduates out there, “To those of you who received honors, awards and distinctions, I say well done and to the C students, I say you too may one day be President of the United States.” George W. Bush Happy Independence Day! Be safe, be courteous and remember what were celebrating here.

Go Patriotism!
